A new look and a new logo for Sci Fi was launched on December 2, 2002, with the launch of the Steven Spielberg miniseries Taken. The new look was created with help from Lambie-Nairn of London.[1][2]
2009-2017[]
On March 16, 2009, NBC Universal announced that Sci Fi would be rebranded as Syfy. One reason mentioned was that the name "Sci Fi" couldn't be trademarked. The new name was rolled out on screen on July 7, 2009.
The ID's and on-air-look for the channel were developed by the London-based studios Proud Creative and ManvsMachine. A font called "Syfy Sans" was created by Brooklyn-based Village Type Foundry.
